Lastly, we will not be broadcasting, tweeting, or publicizing bans. If they choose to cheat, then we have given fair warning, and we will ban them again.
My hope is that players will see this for the opportunity it is and come enjoy the game. For instance, credit card fraud or other forms of illegal activities. We will not be unbanning players that violated other parts of our terms and conditions. That will happen automatically when we're ready, and then we'll message the player base. Please do not contact support asking to be unbanned.

This isn't going to happen until we release the next patch with Battleye. With that in mind, I am going unban a significant portion of the player base.īefore you get too excited or disappointed, let's establish a couple expectations. That means the punishment or lack thereof was largely at the discretion of the GM or CS person. I also found a lot of instances where bans were enforced subjectively. Our current system is inaccurate and capable of automatically banning players who are not cheating. I've spent the last couple weeks working alongside customer support, talking to players, vetting logs, and testing our cheat detection myself. In an ideal world, everything is black and white. The other part of the community feels they have been unjustly banned.įor me, this comes down to a single question: “Has the cheating/banning policy been enforced objectively or subjectively?” One part of the community feels that cheaters have ruined the game and that they deserve to stay banned. We will be keeping our internal cheat detection and our server-side cheat detection and continue to tune them as well. The implementation is mostly done, and we hope to include it in our next patch. It's used by Fortnite, PUBG, and many other games. So, I am very excited to announce that we are implementing Battleye as our client-side cheat solution. We are committed to creating a fair, fun environment to play the game. But ask yourself what are you afraid of? Being embarrassed? Losing a match? Isn't that how we get better? I fully understand the desire to want to put on some training wheels to make your own gaming experience a little more fun. Switching weapons for various conditions.Ĭheating robs everyone of that experience. Our players like it, because it has a unique combination of gameplay that takes a while to master. Will you be changing the cheat detection? If so, will you be looking to unban players from the past? Will there be ban broadcasts in future? Here are the questions and answers from today:ġ. However, that also means we shouldn't leave these kinds of problems around for years on end either. Our terms of service clearly state you should report it and that we can ban you for exploiting. #APB RELOADED REFER A FRIEND LICENSE#
Make no mistake, that doesn't give players license to abuse it.
If an exploit exists, then we should be trying to fix it. I like clear solutions that can be largely enforced through objective systems and infrastructure. The community asked many thoughtful and direct questions, and I know he and Lixil tried to include as many as they could.īefore I jump in, I want to talk a little bit of how I like to approach problems. He was a gracious host and put a lot of behind-the-scenes effort into pulling off the broadcast. I had a great time chatting with Kempington. I sadly don't see PGI ever addressing this, and we will all simply be little anonymous names in a list of lost and unknown souls.I want to start by thanking everyone who came out for the stream today. PGI really needs to create community tools that enable new players to feel that they have an identity in game, and can identify their friends (profiles), and have ways to interact and exchange info/ideas/strategies and tactics inside the game itself. The few serious MechWarrior friends I have are already here, because it's MechWarrior, and because there are not a lot of other choices. Either want simple straight forward "pew pew", or want a solid balanced game with complexities and socialization tools in tandem to enable a better gaming experience as a whole. But most of my friends played games like WoW, and Eve, where socialization is a key element, and they would go play some other FP-Shooter game over this one because of complexity and lacking any interpersonal communication tools to balance it out.
